Daylan Braude (formerly Pflug) started dancing at the tender age of 5 in Regina, Saskatchewan and continued full force after moving to BC. She is trained in Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop and Ballet. In her youth she was involved in a variety of lower mainland competitions including Surrey Arts Festival, Coquitlam Festival and "I Love Dance" to name a few. She has studied with the likes of Barry Coulter, Dawn Duckham, Lisa's School of Dance, Island School of Dance and Janice Tooby-Macdonald School of Dance.

Upon graduating from High school she continued her studies at Simon Fraser University in the Contemporary Arts Program and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance. Daylan's had the wonderful opportunity to train with "Decidedly Jazz Danceworks" and perform and tour with "Youth Dance Unlimited" both of Calgary, Alberta. Her love and passion of rhythm and music is what motivates her to dance, choreograph and teach many different styles from Tap to Modern. Daylan currently teaches full-time in Burnaby and Coquitlam. Just some of Daylan's many performance and choreographic credits include 12 Minutes Max, Dancing on the Edge and Dance Explosions.

Daylan continues to develop and hone her craft by attending dance workshops in the off season. Her recent dance adventures have taken her to New York City to absorb the amazing energy and atmosphere as well as attending the Jazz Immersion Program at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks in Calgary.

Personal Note:
I took my very first dance class with Daylan at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. After taking her jazz dance class, I was absolutely hooked on dance. It was an eye-opener for me and it motivated me to try out other dance classes. I was pleasantly surprised to bump into Daylan teaching a hip hop class I was registered for as well. We were popping, waving and breaking the six-step on the floor. Later, I also tried out her tap class as well and had a blast. Daylan has been an inspiration as she was my very first dance teacher. I love the way she taught her class as she emphasized fun over ability. I also loved her taste in music as well bringing me back to my favorite era of the 80s and early 90s. She has taught at Shadbolt Centre since 2000 and is a favorite amongst her students.

These captivating pictures of Daylan were taken in 2000. Daylan has an interesting tattoo of dancing people around her ankle. I asked her if the tattoo had any significance. She revealed, "My tattoo was kind of a whim. I knew I wanted one and that it had to be something I would always love so I chose dancing people. They weren't going to have identity's but I thought they would look better with hair so one person is me, my sister and my brother." I thought that was really sweet. Her family must hold a special place in her heart for her passion in dance.
