Carl started out as a touring musician then later worked as a studio musician at Little Mountain and Mushroom Studios and various other studios on the lower mainland. Car1 has done sound design for many theatrical productions for which he has received awards for and co-wrote Thomas T - a musical production performed at the Centennial Theatre in February of 2005. Carl has extensive experience in sound design, mixing, and video editing using both traditional sound-boards and computers.

In 2003 Carl was a one-man-crew, working as a camera man, sound man, editor and composer on SkyWater Dreams' first 2 films 'Smorgasbord' and 'Dueling Lotus'. In the past 3 years Carl has worked as a composer for other film makers and did sound correction for a CBC produced production. More recently he has worked as composer, editor and DOP on SkyWater Dreams' most recent dance experimental short, 'La Esencia de mi Madre.'
