Rebecca "Princess" Ramone
Miss Rebecca Ramone has been tearing up the Western Canadian live music scene for almost a decade. A tall claim for such a young musician, but when you see this seasoned, yet fresh performer throw down, you'll know why she is receiving such praise from critics and fans alike. Finding her mom's 30 year old acoustic guitar at 13 and enduring months of blood blisters and tendonitis due to poor technique and a badly set up unstrument, Rebecca finally got her way (as she usually does). She got a beautiful classical guitar with which she learned to write Pearl Jam and Sheryl Crowe rip-off songs. Now, with a powerful voice that turns heads and emotion that can floor a room (sometimes causing sobbing hysterics from large, leather jacket clad men), Rebecca Ramone's vocals mix the blues and soul that's garnered her the label of Canada's Female Ray Lamontagne along with comparisons to blues queens Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Rait. Years of being on stage and in front of cameras (dancing and modeling) has added a stage presence and ease one usually finds in people twice her age. Playing everywhere from smoky underground bars before she was of age, to the Saddledome in Calgary last year as part of Jessica Beach's band, Rebecca was born to perform and has been practicing her interview with Jay Leno for years. She has shared the stage with such musicians as Matt Costa, Teddy Geiger, Danny Michel and Lily Frost. With influences ranging from Pearl Jam and Jeff Buckley, to Betty LaVette and John Lee Hooker, this Vancouverite can tap into parts of your soul that can break your heart and make you want to dance your face off in one breath. Finally finding the band and sound of her dreams with Commotion Out Front, Rebecca looks forward to bringing it on, cheerleader styles and taking over the world.
