Quana Parker, Photographer Extraordinaire

Quana Parker grew up on Hornby Island and was home-schooled. He spent a number of years as a fire-fighter and first-responder. None of the jobs or career paths fit very well with him until he started shooting for a living. Quote from his bio: "It was the first time in my life I truly felt like I was making a difference. It delights me to no end that people enjoy seeing the world and themselves through my eye... I like to make people ponder and perhaps even change their point of view..."

Quana's pictures truly does make you ponder. It goes beyond the realm of reality into fantasy. What seems ordinary to the eye is captured in special ways and angles that make you look further through the surface. Quana has embarked on many projects. He has photographed some of the world's top DJs which was shown in his first solo exhibition. Recently, he started a new project, a series called "On Your Knees" which depicts people on their knees in positions left to your imagination. Quana seems to love to test people's tolerance and watch for their reaction. They are not nude pictures but the power of suggestion seems to strike a stronger cord with people when left with their own interpretations. He is also amazing at capturing the mood of individuals and crowds.

Above all, Quana is a real and genuine person. One can see this through the articles he writes to accompany his adventures as a professional photographer. He is amusing as he reveals things about life in ways that make you relate but are afraid to confess to. His work is diverse.
