Diane Farnsworth, Writer, Film-Maker, Actor & Producer
Diane has a background in acting and dance as well as a degree in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia where she first began directing.
In 2003 Diane wrote, choreographed and directed 'Dueling Lotus', a 10-minute comedic dance-narrative film with performers Carolyn Chan and Dawn Leonard. Later the same year, 'Smorgasbord' was a commissioned project and was Diane's first feature length film shot with Carl Craig and actor, Alex Bruhanski, U.K. actor, Jamie Lomas. David Heavener Entertainment, (a division of Suncoast Film Group), distributed 'Smorgasbord' at Marche du Film at Cannes Festival in 2004 where 'Dueling Lotus' was privately screened.
In December of 2005 Diane worked with Elizabeth Sanchez of Artsy Fartsy Pictures who she had met at the Film Market in Los Angeles in 2004. She worked on the preproduction and the shooting of 'Blossom', a Bravo Fact film.
Diane's latest project, 'La Esencia de mi Madre' is a dance experimental short that was shoot in both Vancouver and Mexico City with Carl Craig and dancer-choreographer, Salome Diaz and Mexican film maker Alberto Renteria. Artistic Director Masahiro Yoshida of Inner Studios donated equipment for the Mexican shoot.
The installation version of 'La Esencia de mi Madre' was screened with dance artists at the Shadbolt for Performing Arts in March 9th and 10th and May 11th and 12th 2007.
